The Solicitors Regulation Authority has a clear records management policy available on their website to download which outlines activities, exemptions and retention periods for documents. All documents from consultation documents to regulatory filings are retained for a specific period, for example; SRA regulatory case files are to be kept for 50 years. This level of document retention can prove expensive when the period comes for the documents to be archived and stored.
